SAN FRANCISCO/NEW YORK (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp offered to buy Yahoo Inc for $44.6 billion, in a bold bid to transform two ailing Internet businesses into a worthy competitor for market leader Google Inc.

The biggest internet deal since TimeWarner and AOL is going being negotiated between the two enormous company. If Microsoft acquires Yahoo, it would dominate in web banner ads, and consumer email service. Yahoo attracts 500 million visitors monthly and is ranked #1 on alexa.com. Can this be Microsoft’s chance to dominate in the online industry?
