MySpace and Facebook Turns Into a Scandal

 

Having been alleged to have sexual encounters with New York Governor Eliot Sptizer, Dupre went from the 22 year old of the unknown to the fifth most searched topic on Google.

 

Dupre was is just an aspiring musician/singer who went to New York to pursue her dreams until she was bridged with the allegations that her life began to change. It made her profile in both Facebook and Myspace increase in hits accumulating to thousands a day. The media tried to track her with these profiles however she tried to be a couple of steps ahead since she limit the information that the press/media could access.

Seemingly she knew that the press would try to access to her connections that she started deleting her friends in Facebook to avoid the press to get more information about her and as well avoid her friends to be involved in the said scandal.

Facebook and Myspace had been famously used by journalists to do background checking. A tool that had been used for a couple of years already and so that the media can put a face of their subject and knowing more about the subject matter.

More and more people make profiles in these Websites without knowing that the information that they include in these sites becoming more and more viewable by the public as Myspace and Facebook is not know to be a public folder.

Dupre’s pictures had been grabbed from her profile in both Facebook and MySpace by publicists, causing it to spread all over media. The changed on her profile was taken note seeming that Dupre had noticed, showing in Dupre’s online acitivities that she had been staying up late just to clean up her profiles as well as replying to critics on the internet.

Christ Simpson, an expert on Internet privacy explains that here is no such thing as privacy in social networking websites. Obviously enough that the photos and comments in your profile can wind up being in the front page of The New York Times.

Dupre at first left her profile open for the public to see, so that someone may take notice of her music and discover her as well. This move made her page a target for media infestation after her alleged Spitzer scandal.

Speculator also said that this kind of publicity may have also been taken advantage by Dupre as her music is still on board in the profiles for every body to view.

This publicity made those not involved want a piece of the action, this made her claiming classmates in high school created a page devoted to her. One morning she answered her high school classmates on it’s group page saying, “Do me a favor and don’t try to cash out… thanks,”, written on the group page of Facebook. Her current status as of the moment in Facebook would be “Sneaking out the Backdoor”. Her page are gaining 1,100 friend request from across America and Dupre might just eventually embrace her new place in the spotlight.
