Another bold move by Google that has been the number one online advertisement provider is now coming up with more new ways to increase the advertisement revenues all to a higher new level. Yes, they are working their way to make things even more diversified as more and more people will be accessing sites via wireless devices.
There’s a letter addressed to the Federal Communications Commission. In this letter Google suggested on how the airwaves known as white spaces can give high-speed mobile access to consumers with out hampering the wireless microphones and television connection.
Microsoft and Google are part of an organization that wants the F.C.C. that is pro unlocking the airwaves for unlicensed uses, like Web access through mobile device, after broadcasters switch to digital signals in 2009. Google said that this proposal could ensure that consumers are able to use the devices anywhere wherever they may go by late next year.
Richard S. Whitt, a lawyer of the company based in Mountain View California said, “Google is a strong believer in the potential of this spectrum to bring Internet access to more Americans,” following with, “The spectrum is way too valuable to be wasted.”
Google has plans to boost their revenues by focusing on providing internet service for mobile devices and phones. Portable technology is within the trend and is selling like pancakes compared to personal computers so that is why they are grabbing this opportunity. This move will give them more space for mobile surfers to access their online advertisements. Mr. Whitt said, that only 5 percent of the nation’s TV white spaces are currently being used.
Last week, Google earned its victory in an F.C.C. auction of airwaves just after Verizon Wireless settled to spend $4.74 billion on spectrum that will be open and available for any legal device. Bids had to out bid a $4.6 billion threshold to unlock or activate what had said to be the so called open access rules on spectrum. Google had wanted the rules to be able to encourage the use of wireless devices.
In protection with the current airwaves that the military is using as well as protection for public safety agencies, Google had suggested the use of spectrum-sensing technology that will be able to free up the airwaves whenever the government would need it. Google also backed up ideas that were submitted by Motorola last year in protection with wireless microphones and TV signals.
In addition to Google and Microsoft, the White Spaces Coalition is merged with Royal Philips Electronics, Intel and Dell. Mr. Whitt said that the proposal announced last Monday was developed by Google alone.
The point is they are in full motivation to make this move since it will generate more profit in their end. Either way, it is also a way of making advances to make technology reach a higher notch as people are in favor of and open wireless connectivity. Hopefully these plans will push through as early as possible.
